Fighting Inequality: Changing the Terms of the Debate and Enacting Big Ideas

Although inequality has been talked about a lot – from the campaign trail to the yearly gathering in Davos – real and meaningful action to tackle it has been missing in Washington, and the gap between the richest and the rest of us continues to widen. Oxfam’s global inequality campaign has worked alongside partners to help change the terms of the debate on inequality and fight for specific policy reforms on wages, tax, gender equality and elite capture of the political process.

The debate in the US and globally has slowly shifted from a conversation over whether inequality is a dangerous threat to social cohesion and poverty alleviation, to an increasingly robust debate over visions to address it and specific policy proposals to tackle extreme wealth concentration. Join Oxfam for a conversation that will focus on how this debate is shifting and what more needs to be done to enact the big ideas needed for change.

Hosted by Abby Maxman, President of Oxfam America, the panel will feature Oxfam International Executive Director Winnie Byanyima, Anand Giridharadas, author of Winners Take All, and will be moderated by Felix Salmon, Chief Financial Correspondent for Axios.

Please join us at 10:30AM for light refreshments. The panel discussion will begin at 11:00AM and conclude at 12:00PM. The first 100 attendees will receive a free copy of Winners Take All.
