Oxfam applauds passage of the Inflation Reduction Act in the House

By

In response to the House passage of the Inflation Reduction Act, Gina Cummings, Vice President of Advocacy, Alliances & Policy for Oxfam America, made the following statement:

“We applaud the House’s vote today to pass this historic and critical legislation that includes investments to combat the climate crisis, lower healthcare costs, and build a fairer tax code.

Following the Senate vote, we are pleased to see this compromise bill move forward to be signed by President Biden, but we are committed to fighting the concessions that were made to fossil fuel companies, Big Pharma, and Wall Street in order to get the bill passed. Now is not the moment to think our job is done, but rather to build upon this victory and recognize the importance of investments in our workers and communities as an opportunity to push for further decisive action on climate and care.

“We will continue to fight inequality, fund social change, and promote climate justice following the lead and tireless work of our organizer and activist allies, and we urge Congress and the Biden administration to pursue even stronger actions to support marginalized communities.”
