In the first live album of its kind, world-famous musicians will join up with the world’s best-loved festival—to stand as one with people forced to flee conflict, disaster and poverty.
Artists including Coldplay, Muse, and Foals will dedicate a song from their Glastonbury Festival set, to be recorded for a special live album in support of Oxfam’s work with refugees worldwide.
The album is dedicated to the memory of Jo Cox, MP, a former Oxfam activist, who campaigned tirelessly for refugees.
It marks a wave of global events taking place throughout the summer – with music lovers, musicians, festival goers and activists standing together with people who have lost everything.
Sigur Rós, The Last Shadow Puppets, Chvrches, Wolf Alice, Laura Mvula, Jamie Lawson, John Grant, Jack Garratt, Editors, New Order, Jeff Lynne's ELO, Richard Hawley, Jess Glynn, Madness, Baaba Maal, and Years & Years are also confirmed for the album.
Through the album we’re pushing for political change where people forced to flee their homes are kept safe, supported and together. The album will also raise vital funds for Oxfam’s Refugee Crisis Appeal, providing live-saving essentials like food, water and sanitation.
We’re taking a global petition to New York where the first ever United Nations Refugees and Migrants Summit will take place and where President Barack Obama will call on all world leaders to make pledges and commitments to address the crisis.
We must push them to do everything in their power to protect people on the move, and for all countries to play its role in making this happen.
This is the most serious refugee crisis since the Second World War. More than 65 million people have been forced to flee their homes by conflict and violence, millions more by natural disaster and poverty. These are people like you and me who have often been torn away from their families, children who are on their own. People have been forced to leave their lives behind, often taking just the few possessions they can carry.
Now is the time to show that we stand together – Stand As One.
The album "Oxfam Presents: Stand as One - Live at Glastonbury 2016" is available for pre-order now.
