Farmers who dare
Small-scale farmers play a critical role in helping to feed our planet, even as their communities often suffer debilitating poverty. The potential harvest packed into every hectare they till is vast. What’s missing are the public policies and market opportunities that would allow those farmers to flourish.
One of Oxfam’s top goals during the next five years is to help families in rural communities improve their food and income security. In this issue, you’ll read about some of our initiatives in Africa, southeast Asia, and South America—projects that have sparked government engagement and ignited the power of people to help themselves.
