Clean water at the right location
Learning from experience in Haiti, Oxfam treats water at wells in the center of villages in Senegal.
Oxfam specializes in clean water and sanitation in humanitarian emergencies, and we always try to ensure that the emergency measures we bring in a crisis translate into a longer-term improvement in clean water, hygiene practices, and sanitation. One such measure is to install chlorine dispensers, which consist of a small container with a ball valve that releases a measured dose of chlorine solution into containers of well water before villagers carry them home.
