Best States to Work During COVID-19
When COVID-19 shattered the US economy, states across the country responded in wildly different ways. Oxfam assesses and ranks the states in a special edition of our Best States to Work Index.
The pandemic has put millions of working families at risk of illness, homelessness, and hunger. Since the federal government response was slow and halting, many states took action to shore up safety nets and catch working families at risk of falling--while others failed to respond at all.
Oxfam has produced an annual Best States to Work index since 2018. This version of the index assesses and ranks how states are supporting residents during the pandemic.
