Where to shop for Fair Trade Certified products

bananas
Fair Trade bananas, marketed by Oke USA, can now be found in about 70 locations around New England, including in co-op supermarkets, natural food stores, and college campuses.

If you're sold on the idea of Fair Trade Certified products, bananas aren't the only good things to sink your teeth into. There are a host of teas and coffees, cocoa and fresh fruits-including mangoes, pineapples, and grapes-now being offered by more than 35,000 retail outlets around the country.

In the Boston area alone, where Oxfam America has its headquarters, Transfair USA-a certifier of fair trade products-lists eight places that carry these goods. For Boston shoppers who want to make a difference in farmers' lives, here's where to go:

  • Trader Joe's
  • DeLuca's Market
  • Bean & Leaf Café
  • Flat Black Coffee Company
  • Whole Foods Market
  • J.P. Licks
  • Haley House
  • Savenor's
