Conflict in the Sudans

Ten years after a major armed conflict erupted, millions of people in Darfur, Sudan, still live in the shadow of war. Oxfam is there, providing critical life-saving assistance. Learn more through the stories and pictures on our Darfur timeline.

Oxfam is providing critical water, sanitation facilities, and hygiene supplies to hundreds of thousands of people in Darfur; we are also distributing fuel-efficient stoves and giving many a hand to start small businesses to support their families.

In the aftermath of South Sudan's secession from Sudan, both countries face conflict, instability, economic uncertainty, and deepening humanitarian crises. From Darfur to South Kordofan to the refugee camps of South Sudan, Oxfam is calling for peace and working to ease the suffering.

In the aftermath of South Sudan's secession from Sudan, both countries face conflict, instability, economic uncertainty, and deepening humanitarian crises. From Darfur to South Kordofan to the refugee camps of South Sudan, Oxfam is calling for peace and working to ease the suffering.

The response to the emergencies in the border areas has been extraordinarily complicated, but Oxfam is working hard with refugees and people displaced within their own country to provide those in greatest need with essential aid.
