This Valentine's Day, Nothing's Cuter Than Fuzzy Baby Chicks

By Oxfam

BOSTON — In an unscientific study released today, Oxfam America found that the cutest possible Valentine's Day gift are a dozen baby chicks. The chicks, available as a symbolic gift from OxfamAmericaUnwrapped.com, have been shown to produce 57 percent more "Awwwws" than a dozen roses, and 85 percent more "warm fuzzies" than a box of chocolates.

Oxfam America Unwrapped offers a catalogue of 53 symbolic gifts—including sheep, fair trade honey, a rowboat and a garden. Each gift represents supplies delivered by Oxfam to people in developing countries who can't afford these everyday items.

"A symbolic gift from Oxfam America Unwrapped says what's in your heart—and is a truly unique way to support meaningful solutions to poverty," said Stephanie Kurzina, Vice President of Fundraising for Oxfam America. "One of our hottest gifts this year is the dozen baby chicks. In the developing world, Oxfam gives them as a starter flock to HIV/AIDS-affected households, where they produce eggs, generate income, and improve nutrition."

The proceeds from Oxfam America Unwrapped support Oxfam’s programs in more than 120 countries. All gift contributions are general donations to Oxfam America and are fully tax deductible. Gift recipients will receive a personalized card with a photo, and you can also send them an e-card from the website—the card goes to your sweetheart; the gift goes to those who need it most.
