Oxfam Reaction to Senate Passage of Tax Bill

By

In response to the Senate passage of the Tax Bill, Gawain Kripke, Oxfam America’s Policy Director, made the following statement:

“Today, 51 Senators again proved they are in Congress to serve the richest of the rich. This cruel bill is a windfall for big companies and the one percent, while it punishes poorest.

“Instead of fulfilling their promises to enact reform that benefits everyone, the Congress is looting the US Treasury on behalf of wealthy donors and lobbyists.

“This is not reform, it’s a heist. Rushed through in the night without time for analysis or debate, the implications for the poorest – here and around the world- are being ignored. The repercussion will be serious and long lasting.”
