Minnie Driver

Oscar-nominated actress Minnie Driver has been a devoted supporter of Oxfam for more than 15 years. In 2004, she traveled to Cambodia and Thailand for Oxfam's Make Trade Fair campaign to draw attention to the impact of global companies’ purchasing practices on factory conditions in developing nations.

Actress Minnie Driver has been a devoted supporter of Oxfam for more than 15 years, speaking frequently to the media to promote trade justice in order to make world trade rules work better for developing nations. In 2004, she traveled to Cambodia and Thailand for Oxfam’s Make Trade Fair campaign to draw attention to the impact of global companies’ purchasing practices on factory conditions in developing nations. She met female garment workers in their homes to learn about their working conditions and standard of living. She also visited Bangkok’s first garment workers’ cooperative. Upon her return, Driver implored heads of large corporations to carefully consider their buying practices.

An accomplished singer-songwriter, Driver performed in the Make Trade Fair live concert in 2004, joining stars such as Chris Martin, Jamelia, and R.E.M. in speaking out about unfair trade rules.

In 2008, Driver joined other Oxfam ambassadors in calling on world leaders at the G8 summit in Japan to tackle global poverty without delay, urging them to boost funds for climate change, the food crisis, and development aid.

Driver has been an active fundraiser for Oxfam. She donated a $100,000 lunch date to Oxfam’s 2008 eBay auction. A high-profile supporter of Oxfam Gifts, Driver regularly promotes the gift catalog in the media. She has appeared on the television talk show “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” in 2006, 2008, and 2009 encouraging viewers to purchase gifts via Oxfam Gifts.

In November 2010, Driver also co-hosted a benefit for Oxfam at the Esquire House LA with fellow Oxfam Celebrity Ambassadors and supporters Kristin Davis, Mark Ruffalo, Colin Firth, Aziz Ansari and Anna Torv.
