Do you know any kids in their right minds who would voluntarily give up their birthday presents? We do! On November 15th, twin brothers Kyle and Jared celebrated their ninth birthday by asking friends and family to donate to Oxfam America's Southern Africa program in lieu of presents. This is the boys' second year supporting Oxfam's work in the region, inspired by seeing a commercial showing the plight of children in Africa. Last year they raised $750 and had an article written about them in their local paper. Kyle and Jared have even inspired other kids from their community to choose donations to charities rather than new toys for their birthdays. This may become a national movement!
Oxfam would like to extend a belated Happy Birthday to Kyle and Jared, and a big thank you for their gift to communities in Southern Africa!
