Who We Are
Oxfam America Advocacy Fund is a partner organization to Oxfam America. Formed in 2004, the organization attempts to end global poverty, hunger, and social injustice through legislative lobbying and political advocacy. By challenging the national and international laws that keep people trapped in poverty, Oxfam America Advocacy Fund believes it can help people lead more secure lives.

Oxfam America and Oxfam America Advocacy Fund: What is the Difference?
Oxfam America comprises two separate entities: Oxfam America and Oxfam America Advocacy Fund. Although both organizations aim to end poverty and social injustice, the two separate organizations address these issues from different perspectives.
Oxfam America Advocacy Fund seeks to address the root causes of poverty through its legislative lobbying efforts and other political activity. We do this through lobbying of legislators in Washington, DC. We also accomplish this through mobilizing the general public around the country on pressing matters affecting the poor.
Because federal law limits the extent to which Oxfam America can engage in lobbying and prohibits endorsing candidates for federal office, these activities will be done through Oxfam America Advocacy Fund.
By contrast, Oxfam America addresses global poverty and social injustice through a variety of methods. Oxfam America collaborates and funds local partners in more than 30 countries in South and Central America, Africa, East Asia and the United States. Oxfam America also engages in outreach and advocacy work, educating the US public on issues of poverty and social injustice. Lastly Oxfam America is involved in emergency assistance, providing clean water and long-term reconstruction in the event of disaster.
