“I believe so strongly in the fact that people en masse can make a change, so why not let it be us?” says Charmagne Coston, a bank teller from Austin, TX. “That’s what keeps me going every day.”
Coston is a member of the Oxfam Action Corps, a group of dedicated volunteers based in more than a dozen US cities who campaign with Oxfam to fight poverty. Our current campaign focuses on climate change and its effects on the world's poorest communities.
We’re currently seeking volunteers in the following cities: Albuquerque, NM; Austin, TX; Boston, MA; Burlington, VT; Chicago, IL; Columbus, OH; Des Moines, IA; Indianapolis, IN; Kansas City, MO; Madison, WI, Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN ; New York City, NY; Philadelphia, PA; San Francisco Bay Area, CA; Seattle, WA.
Volunteers with the Oxfam Action Corps lead a coordinated charge to improve national legislation and deepen local community resources for fighting poverty and injustice. Our current campaign focuses on climate change and its effects on the world's poorest communities.
When you volunteer with the Oxfam Action Corps, you might attend a house party or collect signatures at a concert. You could join a delegation to a lawmaker's local office, organize a petition drive, or plan an Oxfam America Hunger Banquet® event. Anyone is welcome to volunteer, regardless of age or experience level—all you need is a willingness to make a difference.
