Ideas that Inspire

WHAT CAN I DO?

Just as hunger is experienced on a very personal level, the fight against hunger is furthered by every individual who works to make a positive change. Never underestimate the impact of a single voice raised, goal met, or meal skipped in honor of those who are hungry.

  • Skip a Meal for Oxfam
Carry out the Fast tradition in the simplest of forms: skip a meal for Oxfam! Join the thousands who will skip a meal the Thursday before Thanksgiving, or choose another day. Contribute the money saved to Oxfam's fight against hunger.
  • Participate in pledge events
Get friends and family to pledge money for every mile you walk, lap you swim, or mile you bike and donate the money raised to Oxfam America.
  • Raise money via recyclables
Collect recyclable soda cans and bottles and donate the deposits to Oxfam.
  • Write to your local newspaper
Write a letter to the editor or an op-ed piece in your local newspaper about global poverty and hunger. Highlight any events in your community that are being held to raise awareness or funds.
  • Host or attend an Oxfam America Hunger Banquet® event
Participants leave with not only a greater understanding of hunger but also the motivation to do something about it.
  • Use your own initiative!
Think of unique ways to raise funds or educate others about hunger...or both! Be creative.
