Oxfam America

Oxfam Action Corps

In key cities across the United States, people are connecting with Oxfam America’s global reach through the Oxfam Action Corps. Volunteers with the Oxfam Action Corps lead a coordinated charge to improve national legislation and deepen local community resources for fighting poverty and injustice.

Concerned about poverty and hunger on a global scale, but not sure how to take meaningful action at the local level? The Oxfam Action Corps provides a way to change the big picture, starting with your city or Congressional district.

Who we are

The Oxfam Action Corps is a group of dedicated volunteers in more than a dozen US cities who campaign with Oxfam to fight poverty. Our current campaign focuses on climate change and its effects on the world’s poorest communities. Learn more about Oxfam’s climate change campaign.

Volunteers receive ongoing support from Oxfam, including campaign materials, policy strategies, and advice on community organizing. Each city has two trained volunteer “co-leaders” who welcome and orient volunteers throughout the year.

Get involved

Anyone can join the local effort! Volunteering can be as simple as attending a house party and writing a letter to Congress, or it can involve a deeper commitment to learn and take action. You can join a delegation to a lawmaker’s local office, organize a petition drive, or plan an Oxfam America Hunger Banquet® event. Everybody has something to offer, whether unique ideas and talents, or simply time and an additional set of hands to help.
