Tohono O'odham Community Action (TOCA) is a grassroots organization on the Tohono O'odham Indian reservation in Arizona. In pursuit of a sustainable community, TOCA's programs focus on culturally-based, sustainable economic development, a health-focused community food system, the rejuvenation of Tohono O'odham cultural traditions, and ways of encouraging young people to become strong members of the Tohono O'odham community. TOCA is reintroducing its people to traditional foods to combat high rates of diabetes and demonstrating the intricate connections between traditional foods, health, and culture.
