The North Carolina Latino Coalition (NCLC) is a nonpartisan, multi-issue coalition of 60 grassroots Latino congregations, neighborhood associations, unions, community centers and sports associations in North Carolina. From 1990-2000, the Latino population in North Carolina increased by 394%, making it the number one state in the country for Latino population growth. During this same period, the poverty rate of Latinos in the South increased by 30%. In response, NCLC has dedicated itself to developing and training grassroots Latino leaders, strengthening institutions through the provision of technical assistance, and addressing concerns through collective public action.
