Survivors were left to mourn the dead and to struggle with the reality that, in many cases, their homes, communities, life savings, and means of livelihood were gone, as well. But despite the overwhelming nature of the losses, many people have resumed work, communities are rebuilding, and local economies are starting to recover. Through grants, loans, and job training, Oxfam is working to help survivors of the tsunami restore their businesses and incomes, and find opportunities to lift their lives out of poverty. |
