Pakistan Earthquake

The massive earthquake that struck northern Pakistan on October 8, 2005 left more than three million people homeless. Registering 7.6 in magnitude, the quake devastated an 18,600-square-mile area, damaging hundreds of towns and villages and largely destroying thousands of schools and hospitals. In this mountainous region beset by poverty and extreme weather conditions, survivors are now working to rebuild their homes and communities. Oxfam continues to provide water and sanitation services to many people as well as assistance to help get them back to work.
