What Oxfam is Doing

Oxfam and its partner organizations have educated millions of people about the disastrous effects unfair trade rules have on poor communities. We mobilize concerned citizens like you, using petitions and coordinated efforts such as the ONE Campaign, to create positive social and economic change.

Our role in the ONE Campaign focuses on world trade, a powerful force for reducing poverty. Oxfam's Make Trade Fair campaign calls on decision makers to make trade part of the solution to poverty. To achieve this, our global campaign pursues:

  • The end of wealthy nations dumping subsidized crops on the world market, so small-scale farmers can compete in a fair marketplace.
  • The opening of wealthy markets to the poorest countries.
  • The creation of trade agreements that reduce poverty in developing countries, and allow them to build up their economies while protecting their food supply.
