COMARU represents the disparate Machiguenga indigenous communities in the central Peruvian Amazon region. With Oxfam's support, they produce weekly radio programs and quarterly newsletters to disseminate information to affiliate communities and ensure their participation in the organization. COMARU has achieved an impressive level of organization among communities located at great distances from one another. They have followed the developments of major projects in the zone, including a huge natural gas deposit located in the territory of Machiguenga, and isolated peoples who have been under exploration for the past two decades. COMARU organized committees to monitor company activities on indigenous lands.

CONAMAQ is an umbrella organization that represents indigenous communities in the Bolivian Andes, called (in increasing geographical scope) ayllus, markas, and suyus. CONAMAQ supports the revival of traditional modes of community organization and local leadership, and represents, manages, and negotiates the demands of indigenous Bolivians of the highlands. CONAMAQ encompasses approximately 543 ayllus (rural communities) and 2,200 indigenous authorities.

CONACAMI is a national network that advocates for environmental and economic justice in conflicts between large-scale mining operations and rural communities. By training and advice in developing advocacy strategies, they support regional organizations of indigenous communities affected by the mining industry in Peru in cases such as Tambogrande (under consideration for mining), Espinar (where the formation of a mine resulted in serious human rights abuses), and Choropampa (where a mercury spill due to mine workers' carelessness caused serious health problems in northern Peru).
