MEDIA ADVISORY: Oxfam media availability in Haiti

PORT-AU-PRINCE – Oxfam staff in Haiti is continuing to provide for urgent water and sanitation needs in the capital, Port-au-Prince. The international aid agency is also sending additional humanitarian response specialists and communications officers, who will be available for media in Port-au-Prince.

Oxfam teams are distributing water to thousands of people in two locations in Port-au-Prince today (Sunday):

• From 12 noon (EST), water will be distributed from a site next to a temporary outdoor medical center at Delmas 48, near Petionville.
  
  Teams will install water bladders – flexible tanks that can hold up to 10,000 liters of water. Water trucks will be filling up the tanks to provide clean, fresh water for local people. Platforms for the tanks were build yesterday and taps are already installed. Oxfam aims to install three other bladders at this site.

• Later this afternoon, distribution will also take place at a location in one of the worst-hit suburbs, Carrefour. Time and exact location has not yet been confirmed.
