Association of Women's Club
Hatfield, Harare,
Zimbabwe
The AWC structure is organized around 3,000 clubs operating from 60 rural districts of Zimbabwe. Each club has an average membership of twenty women who make up the total membership of 60,000 women for the organization. Due to its organizational structure spanning from the national level association to village level club, the AWC is well positioned to promote democratically led processes. Through its program of village based area trainers who now number 720, up from the original 120, the Association is able to effectively implement a two-way information dissemination system from grassroots communities to the Women's Coalition national structure and vice-versa.
