AMMCJ was established in 1995 as a membership association for female lawyers in the private and public sectors in Mozambique. AMMCJ works to decrease violence against women and ensure equal legal status of women. The association provides temporary shelter, legal and counseling services to victims of gender violence, and various other services such as legal rights education focused on gender violence, legal disputes, and sexual harassment in the work place.
