Founded in 1981 by a group of professionals, LABOR is an NGO that promotes the sustainable development of the Moquegua region in southern Peru in collaboration with the private and public sectors. LABOR recently helped restore a polluted environment caused by copper mining and refining operations. They are also committed to preventing possible future environmental damage caused by unregulated mining activities through an integral advocacy strategy with other NGOs and local communities.
