A new Oxfam report, Formula for Fairness: Patient Rights Before Patent Rights, calls on pharmaceutical giant Pfizer, Inc. to do more to make drugs available in poor countries where nearly 40,000 people die daily from preventable diseases. Oxfam calls particularly for Pfizer and other drug companies to drop their efforts to block the sale of generic drugs in poor countries, allowing instead for a tiered pricing system and flexibility in licensing.
