Across El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras, people are asking: will metal mines really bring the type of economic development the region really needs? Or will massive, open-pit mines just displace farms, pollute the water, and fail to deliver good jobs for the long term? Oxfam America's senior writer Chris Hufstader visited this region and asked indigenous people, farmers, and those concerned with good economic policies what they think, and what they have to say in the debate about mining in Central America.
