The Oxfam Amazing Race - by UHS Oxfam Club

The Oxfam Amazing Race is an activity modeled upon the reality show "The Amazing Race." Hosted by the UHS Oxfam Club, along with some other great local high school clubs and Oxfam clubs. Everyone including adults is welcome. This is a great opportunity to raise awareness of famine, poverty, and injustice in our community! Go to www.uhsoxfam.org for more info, updates, and to register. *For high school students, this activity will count as 3 hours of community service.

Participants will be separated into teams (you can make your own teams of 3-4 too). Each team will be given a map of South Irvine and a clue, and will have to figure out where is the next checkpoint. Upon arrival at the next checkpoint, the team will have to perform a certain task to get the next clue to the next checkpoint. Team work will be crucial to this activity. The fastest team will get a cash reward of $30 ($50 if the total number of participants exceed 100). The fee is $5 for online registration (go to www.uhsoxfam.org) and $7 at the door.

You will be given several supporting phone numbers you can call during the race if you have any questions or are lost (which is very unlikely since you will have map). There will be staff stand by to pick up phone calls from contestants. We will make sure the activity is a safe and enjoyable one for you.

Venue: University High Irvine - 4771 Campus Drive, Irvine, CA 92612 (Starting point will be in front of the big theater).

For high school students, this activity will count as 3 hours of community service.

The website may not be opened until early October. If the link doesn't work, send an email to info@uhsoxfam.org.

Most profit will go to UHS Oxfam, which will make a big donation at the end of the academic year. The remaining part of the profit will go to other non-profit clubs.

We will have staff checking on contestants to make sure no one cheats.
