xmlns:content="http://purl.org/rss/1.0/modules/content/"><![CDATA[ Along with the New Year, came the harsh reality of earth-shaking destruction in our global community. The Haitian earthquake has opened the eyes of millions of people around the world. With the most deprived nation in the Western Hemisphere gaining the attention of the media, many have noticed our need to aid the myriad victims of this cruel disaster. Though many want to help relieve the victims of the tragic event, most do not know how or who to send their money to.
The Western Dubuque High School National Honor Society is sponsoring the Haiti Hunger Banquet through Oxfam America. Proceeds will be sent to the Oxfam America Haiti Earthquake Recovery Fund to help benefit the victims of the earthquake. Oxfam America works to fight poverty and injustice worldwide through disaster relief and sustainability projects. Oxfam has been working in Haiti for many decades and the money will go towards water delivery and sanitation projects.
The banquet will be held Saturday, April 10th from 5:30 to 7:00 P.M. in the Fine Arts Gym at Western Dubuque High School in Epworth, Iowa. Tickets are being sold for five dollars each and all are invited to attend. The night will consist of a meal and guest speakers addressing the issues they have encountered through their personal experiences in Haiti. Attendees are encouraged to come with an open mind and be prepared to leave with a better understanding of the world around us. Be sure to mark the date on your calendars as it is sure to be a one of a kind event, and remember, the experience is in the meal. Please help us to reach our goal of raising one thousand dollars for Haiti!

Artists are asked to donate their time to create art for a 6-12 hour period of time. The artwork created will then be bid on in an auction. These events will be held in open, public places so people can come in and view the art as it is being created and potentially place a bid. We rely on the entire community to make this possible; from local restaurants to conventions centers and finally, the general public who will make this all worthwhile.

We are looking for people to donate their time so we can have these events all over the country!
