The following Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions ("Terms of Use") govern all pages hosted at www.oxfamamerica.org, all Web site domains owned by Oxfam America, and those hosted through our online donation and eCommunity areas (collectively, "the Oxfam America websites"), as well as personal information that is shared with Oxfam America (including Oxfam America, Inc., Oxfam America Advocacy Fund, Inc., ACT FAST with Oxfam, etc.) via other means. These Terms of Use do not apply to pages hosted by other organizations to which we may link and whose privacy and other policies may differ. These Terms of Use may change from time to time, so please check back periodically.
Oxfam America respects the privacy of its supporters. We have developed a rigorous privacy policy that reflects that respect. Please read the following policy to understand how your personal information will be treated. We will do our best to honor any limitations you may wish to place on the usage of your personal information.
When you are on any of the Oxfam America Web sites and are asked for personal information, you are sharing that information with Oxfam America alone, unless stated otherwise. Oxfam America may collect information regarding Web site visitors, including IP address, browser and domain information, and information volunteered by you, such as email address. We may also monitor and track information such as visitor usage patterns of our Web site using standard site tracking software.
Oxfam America collects personal information from visitors and other supporters when they register to join our organization and become a member, make a donation online or offline, subscribe to our e-newsletter, take an action concerning an issue using our service, or otherwise participate in one of our online communities. Our web server does not automatically recognize or collect personal information based on your email address; the personal information we collect is always voluntarily submitted by you.
Oxfam America uses the information we collect about you to be able to send you communications such as our e-newsletter and various printed publications or mail appeals, and to help administer and improve our web sites. Please note that we use this information for internal purposes only. If you have subscribed to Oxfam America's eCommunity, we will generally send you approximately two email communications per month.
Periodically, Oxfam makes the names of its supporters available to other organizations working for social change. If you would like us to exclude your name from that process, we would be more than happy to honor your wishes. If you have not already done so, please write to Oxfam America, List Preference Service, 226 Causeway Street, 5th Floor, Boston, MA 02114-2206 and be sure to include your name and address. Or, email donorinfo@oxfamamerica.org or call 800/77-OXFAM(800/776-9326) and ask for the List Preference Service Desk.
Oxfam America will not disclose any of your personally identifiable information, except when we have your permission or under special circumstances, such as when we believe in good faith that the law requires it. Oxfam America may use such information ourselves to contact people for marketing purposes. Given that Oxfam America is funded solely through private donations, we may share individual information with affiliated third parties (including without limitation Oxfam International and its member affiliates) and our trusted agents for marketing purposes.
Please note: We are aware of and sensitive to the issue of unsolicited email ("spam"); therefore Oxfam America will never rent, trade or sell your email address. From time to time, however, we may agree with other reputable, charitable organizations to write via postal mail to some of each other's supporters, for the mutual benefit of both. If you would prefer not to have your name used in this manner, simply send us a request via email to donorinfo@oxfamamerica.org, with your exact name and address.
The accuracy of your individual information is important to Oxfam America. Additionally, we have tried to streamline our operations by making it easy for you control the information that we maintain about you. Our eCommunity members can access their personal online contact information or unsubscribe to our eCommunity by visiting the eCommunity Profile Page. If you have a question about or change to your personal information related to a donation, please send an email to donorinfo@oxfamamerica.org.
When you give Oxfam America personal information, we take steps to ensure that your information is treated securely. Oxfam America is certified PCI (Payment Card Industry) compliant, and uses industry-standard encryption technologies when transferring and receiving sensitive visitor and constituent data (e.g., financial information) with our Web site(s). All online donations are processed via a secure server connection, which we indicate to visitors through a pop-up screen on the site. Oxfam America does not store your credit card information for future use.1 Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, while we strive to protect your personal information, Oxfam America cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us, and you do so at your own risk. Once we receive your transmission, we use commercially reasonable efforts to ensure its security on our systems, and to protect against the loss, misuse, or alteration of information that we have collected.
During humanitarian crises, Oxfam America may accept donations from supporters via mobile phone. This service is provided through an agreement with the Mobile Giving Foundation, who is solely responsible for the transaction and information about you related to that transaction. We encourage you to review the Mobile Giving Foundation's Privacy Policy for more details.

If you elect to use the referral service for informing another person about a page on the Oxfam America Web site, you will be asked for the recipient's name and email address. Oxfam America will automatically send the recipient a one-time email inviting them to visit the page you recommend. Oxfam America stores this information for the sole purpose of sending this one-time email. Please note that some Web browsing software or third-party plug-ins allow you to save information you have typed into an online form. If you have these features turned on in your Web browser, future attempts to send a page to another person may show their email address as pre-entered. This is a function of your software, not Oxfam America's Web site(s).
Similarly, Oxfam America provides a free third-party service, ShareThis (www.sharethis.com), which enables you to post a page from the Oxfam America Web site to other Web sites, such as social networking or bookmarking sites, or via email. ShareThis is provided as-is, and is subject to the terms of use set forth by ShareThis, Inc., available for review on the ShareThis Web site: http://sharethis.com/privacy/. Web site at www.sharethis.com.
Oxfam America may amend this privacy policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy on our Web site so that you are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances we disclose it. Your continued use of our Web site after the date that such notices are posted will be deemed to be your agreement to the changed terms.
