Our New Penpals
A few weeks ago, Oxfam America began receiving dozens of emails from high school students at Notre Dame Academy in Massachusetts thanking us for the work we do. We suspected there was a reason behind the moving messages decorating the walls of our break room. Our search for the catalyst led us to Sister Evelyn McKenna!
For the past 10 years, Sister Evelyn has been organizing Hunger Banquets for her students. As part of her tradition, she requires that any student who cannot attend the banquet learn about Oxfam through our website and email us to tell us what they think of our work. The messages we received were both thoughtful and affirming. "Thank you for improving this world!" one student said.
Mystery solved! Now, it's our turn to thank Sister Evelyn and the students of Notre Dame for their very inspiring words.
