MUSASA Project was founded in 1988 as a service organization, seeking to empower women to challenge domestic violence and to reform institutions that perpetuate of violence against women. The organization works to reduce the prevalence of gender-based violence, contributes to the creation of an environment conducive to combating the subordination of women through domestic violence, and develops an inclusive strategy for working towards the elimination of domestic violence. The MUSASA Project is the only organization in Zimbabwe whose key mandate is focused on domestic violence, and provides counseling, shelter, legal advice and medical referrals to victims of domestic violence.
